I love Thomas Newman. He is one of just a few composers I can instantly identify just by the music in the soundtrack. I first came to know him through his music from films such as American Beauty and Shawshank. I distinctly remember the first time I saw 'The Player'... in the opening scene I thought to myself "This really sounds like Thomas Newman"... and sure enough, it was. Newman truly has his own distinct musical style, just like many film-makers have their own visual style. I think my favorite single song from Newman is "Possibility" from 'Pay it Forward'.
