RSS Feed Update

Posted in Maintenance by Dave on the February 29th, 2008

So I posted a bunch of stuff in the RSS feed this morning.  Enough so that you wouldn’t see Episode 25 in the feed.  I finally figured that out so it now displays the last ten things added to the feed.  Give it about 15 minutes and you should be able to see all of our Oscar bits as well as Episode 25.

Barry’s Review: Be Kind, Rewind

Barry’s Score:  9/10

Be Kind Rewind, the latest from the always innovative Michel Gondry, is a terrific film, one of the best of the year and one I hope everyone will see in theaters. The movie has been sold as a one-joke comedy and had a poor opening weekend, which means it will probably be gone from theaters soon. I want to urge everyone interested to see this right now- it’s better than I imagined and quite wonderful.

SG Cinema Flashback - Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

Some movies should absolutely not work and Robert Zemeckis’ Who Framed Roger Rabbit is one of them. Imagine the pitch meeting for this movie: “It’ll cost around $40 million, making it the most expensive production of the day, and it may take two years to complete. The special effects will be groundbreaking…that is, if we get it finished on time. Oh, and, instead of hiring Dan Aykroyd to star, as you suggested, we chose Bob Hoskins for the lead. Never heard of him? He was in Mona Lisa…no, I don’t think he’s ever done a ‘children’s film’ before, but this isn’t really a kid’s movie anyway. This will have sex, a complicated plot, lots of in-jokes for the adults, and it’s a throwback to Raymond Chandler! Sounds like a hit, right? Right?”

SGR Episode 25 and What’s Up With the Oscars

Posted in Episodes by Dave on the February 24th, 2008

This is quite possibly the quickest we’ve ever gotten a show up after recording.  We literally recorded, I did some quick edits and uploaded it.  Enjoy the show as an alternative to the rest of the Barbara Walters special and the red carpet crap.

As for what we’re doing with the Oscars tonight, we’re going to be posting machines.  We’ll be going the route of last year where we’ll record our thoughts every couple commercial breaks and then post them up.  If there’s enough interest, I’ll put them together into one package.  Essentially, check back often and feel free to post/e-mail us with feedback and we’ll even try to respond as well.

Yeah…about the first live show

Posted in Episodes by Dave on the February 24th, 2008

We’re running into some very odd technical difficulties, so we’re going to have to ax the live best of 07 show.  I’ll just post it outright shortly after we record it and hopefully, we’ll still be able to do the live Oscar commentary.  Stay tuned!
