Is Pushing Daisies…Well, Pushing Daisies?

Right after the news that Jeph Loeb and Jesse Alexander were off Heroes, everyone was hoping that Pushing Daisies creator Brian Fuller would come back since he wrote some of the best episodes of the first season of Heroes.  When approached about the topic, Fuller said that Pushing Daisies was his priority and would only consider it if the show wasn’t renewed.

Well, it looks like he might have time to consider going back to Heroes after all.  AICN’s Hercules has just put up a story quoting “sources familiar with the situation” that ABC has decided not to pick up the rest of the show’s season.  Also worth mentioning is that ABC has insisted that no decision has been made.  Still, if this ends up being true, it’s really going to be a shame to see such a charming and unique show be cancelled.

Hopefully, ABC’s denial means that Daisies fans can find a way to unite and keep the show on the air!

It’s nice that we’re finally getting some fun sci-fi these days.  Even better, one of the better shows is the Sci-Fi channel’s Sanctuary.  Jonja.net’s Timelord had a chance to talk with Robin Dunne about the success of the show and how the show is made.  Check it out!  Thanks to Scorpiuscat for letting us know about this fun interview!

Huge E3 News: XBox Live and Netflix Partnering!

I’ve really made a point of not bringing video games to ScreenGeeks too often just because it isn’t our focus.  This news, however relates directly to movies, tv, and home viewing.  I first read about this over at Major Nelson’s Twitter page and it’s been posted officially by XBox 360 Fanboy that Netflix is partnering with Microsoft to bring content to XBox Live.

This is HUGE news for those of us who have both XBox Live and Netflix.  Details haven’t come out about how it’ll be downloaded, download limits, etc., but my guess would be that you’ll be able to access a good chunk (if not all) of the current Netflix Watch It Now library, which has titles that number well over 10,000.  And now it’s becoming official why Microsoft has been dragging their feet on putting out a Bluray drive.  It’s never been a secret that Microsoft wants to work toward digital downloads as opposed to an HD media, and this just shows that they’re ready to start working down that path.  Oh, and I’m psyched for it!

ABC Finds A Way To Alienate the Geeks

Posted in TV News by Dave on the August 3rd, 2007

So let me get this straight, NBC has proven that the geek demographic actually can bring in ratings and money between Heroes, The Office and the upcoming Bionic Woman, right?  So what does ABC do?  They take a giant dump on what could have been the next Outer Limits or Twilight Zone and decide to essentially make what Fox pulled on Firefly look like the long run Cheers had.

I already don’t watch much TV as it is since I’ve got a pretty decent DVD collection and Netflix.  This makes me want to boycott ABC outright.  Can’t you at least let the viewing audience take a look at this show before deeming it garbage?  I swear, there’s no way a great show like Spaced would make it because it isn’t Desperate Housewives or Survivor.

For a great opinion on this fiasco, check out Wil Wheaton’s thoughts on this.  Actually, just read anything the man writes.  The man is so good at what he does that I actually sing that I want to be like Wil instead of Mike.
