SG DVD Commentary 1 - Leonard Part 6
Well, we’ve done it. We have completed our first dvd commentary. We picked Leonard Part 6 because we didn’t want to muddle our way through a good movie. It’s pretty fun, though, even if you don’t watch the movie. We hope you enjoy it!
SGR Episode 59
And we’re back to a better release day for the last episode of the year. We’re psyched to talk about this Swedish treat. We won’t be releasing an episode next week, so happy holidays to all of you from the SG crew!
SGR Episode 58 - The Fisher King
Yes, it’s insanely late. It’s totally my fault. On the upside, this is a pretty freaking funny episode. Hope you enjoy!
SG Casting Rumors: Batman 3 (Ethan)

So it looks like Justin Timberlake will be playing Harvey Dent in a prequel to The Dark Knight. Trust me, my sources would never lie. Because c’mon, why would a guy I knew from high school who knows a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy who thinks he saw Christopher Nolan at an NBA game not be right?
So after long cocaine fueled nights trying to figure out a story for a third Batman movie, the producers decided that that just wasn’t going to work. So they decided to explore the origins of other characters from the franchise. At first they were going to go with a Lucius Fox prequel detailing his career as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. Morgan Freeman was ready and Robert Zemeckis was ready to step in as director. But after a test with the motion capture technology, Mr. Freeman decided that he did not like acting with tiny balls all over his face. So he decided to step down.
The producers panicked, what where they going to do? The billion dollars they made on The Dark Knight wasn’t going to last forever, they needed more money to fund their expensive yacht collecting hobby. So they went on IMDB and looked at who else was in the movie. They scrolled down and saw Harvey Dent. So they called up Aaron Eckhart and pitched the film to him. He said yes. But quickly after they realized that they didn’t really like spending the money on make-up to make Dent look five years younger. So they instead decided to pitch the idea to Justin Timberlake. After being so impressed with his performance in The Love Guru, they knew he was the right man. Maybe they left Aaron Eckhart crying himself to sleep every night for a month, but who cares about that guy?
So the film, which will be titled Harvey Dent : The Beginning of Five Years Ago, will focus on Harvey Dent when he was 33 and running a pizza joint in lower Gotham. After Poison Ivy got all her ivy on his place, causing nobody to want to go there anymore, he knew he had to do something. In a pivotal scene of foreshadowing, Dent will accidentally spill pizza sauce on half his face. But most importantly, JT will pull double-duty with both the film and the soundtrack. He’s already begun work in the studio on the hot new single “Put a Dent in Your Sex Life”.
SG Casting Rumors: Batman 3 (Dave)
So I was out and about on the streets of Colorado Springs this morning and a bum at the corner of Academy and Powers gave me a great tip on what’s going on with the next Batman movie!
It turns out that Warner Brothers has decided not to work with Christopher Nolan on the next film and have decided to go in an entirely new direction. It sounds like they’re going to move forward with an adaptaion of the Elseworlds tale of Batman vs. Dracula. Being VERY impressed with what Jason Segel did with the Dracula musical in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, they’ve convinced him to delay the proper Muppet Movie to take on Batman muppet-style. They’ve apparently also secured the rights to The Count from Sesame Street, so they won’t have to pay for a big name to voice Dracula.
The other principles were wary of this idea initially, but everyone immediately got on board when they found out they’d be paid in line with the previous films but just have to record lines in the their pajamas.
If this goes well, we very well may end up seeing a Miss Piggy version of Wonder Woman if the rate of return is high enough on Batman vs. Dracula.
The Best of the Fest - Covering the 31st Starz Denver Film Festival
Why does the Denver Film Festival matter? Two big reasons: the film selection and the people. Of the former, you get films as varied as Ray, Random Hearts and The Host getting their U.S. first looks, as well as the best documentaries, festival sleepers and soon-to-be-huge, break-out independent films getting showcased. Of the latter, you won’t find nicer or friendlier film buffs, both in the audience or behind the scenes. The people running the show are the most accommodating bunch I’ve ever come across at any film festival. The feel is very laid back, with attendance packed but never claustrophobic, and there are often multiple screenings, so you have another shot if your movie is sold out. The location is cool: The Tivoli, a former brewery in Denver, has a lot of character and enough access to the city (if you have time to kill in between screenings). How laid back is this fest? I often spot the actors and filmmakers of the movie I’m seeing roaming the halls before and after the screenings.
