SGR Episode 85 - Fincher’s SE7EN
Dave’s good friend Rob Stennett, author of The End Is Now, joins us to start our series on David Fincher. With the background sound effects, we really couldn’t have picked a better film to start with than SE7EN. Seriously, that was going on during the episode. We couldn’t have faked that if we wanted to.

SGR Episode 84 - Dante’s Matinee
We wrap up our series on Joe Dante with a fan favorite, Matinee. It’s a wonderful film that’s insanely hard to get ahold of for some reason. If you can find, just buy it and thank us later. Speaking of thanks, Christopher from Jonja.net graciously joined us to talk about this fun film.
SGR Episode 83 - Dante’s Explorers
This will make for an interesting episode as there are two distinct generations represented on ScreenGeeks. Wanna guess which generation just won’t connect with it? Listen on to find out!
Talking Heads cover + American Psycho = Teh Win (Warning : NSFW)
Young Actor/Writer/Musician/Chill Dude Miles Fisher has produced a cover of the classic Talking Heads song “This Must Be The Place” that is accompanied by a dead-on reenactment of key scenes from the 2000 Bret Easton Ellis adaptation American Psycho. This is a rather inspired choice. This song came off the 1984 pop masterpiece “Speaking in Tongues“. And as that song and its respective album are a perfect representation of 80’s new-wave, American Psycho is a perfect representation/satire of 80’s decadence and greed. But it’s also remarkable how much of an uncanny resemblance young Mr. Fisher bears to Christian Bale, star of American Psycho. So take a gander.
Dave’s G-Force Review
Dave’s Score: 7/10
To be honest, I wasn’t really in the frame of mind to give G-Force a fair shot going in. The movie snob in me just KNEW I was going to hate this movie. It was a foregone conclusion that it was going to suck…HARD. It doesn’t help that almost every person I’ve talked to (critic and non-critic alike) has thought that this movie looks idiotic and like a complete waste of time. Fortunately, that was a week or so ago and I’ve since realized how important it is to go into any movie with an open mind. It doesn’t matter if this is a kiddie flick or not, it deserves a fair shot. Imagine my shock and surprise when I came out of the film and realized that I had a good time with G-Force. This movie is proof that Disney, under new leadership, can put out quality family flicks again. It is also proof that Disney has quite the hole to get out of in order to gain audience goodwill back on everything not bearing the Pixar name.
Alice In Wonderland Trailer
I know this has been popping up all over the place, but this trailer is interesting enough that even I, not the biggest Tim Burton fan in the world, am intrigued by this trailer. I’m curious to see what everyone else thinks of it.
SGR Episode 82 - Just the News
This week, Dave and Melissa talk about what we’ve been watching, talk a bit more Transformers 2 and look at the news and releases of the week.
SGR Episode 81 - The Howling
While the topic this week is Joe Dante’s The Howling, we really spend the majority of the episode talking about Transformers 2. Chris Stipp from Quick Stop Entertainment joins us for part of the show.
