With all due respect Dave, I think you were being a little ridiculous in your Indiana Jones hate. I personally found it to be a lot of fun and I came into the movie only wanting and expecting that.

Oh, I absolutely expect for people to disagree rather vehemently with me. The more I’ve thought about the movie, though, the more angry I get. I will give this movie another chance at some point, but it definitely won’t be during its theatrical run. It’s taken me about 7 years to be ready to finally give AI another chance. I don’t think it’ll be that long, but that is the level of distaste I have.

I’ve been talking on the boards over at Geek Radio Daily, and it seems that the people who had no problem with the lack of plausibility were the ones who really had a good time with the movie. For those who had serious issues (for whatever reason, like myself), we were the ones who really didn’t like it.

My short review- This movie shrunk my penis for life.

    More on that:

I think this is the only movie where I wanted to walk out of an action sequence.

Ridiculous execution of bringing an old character back. Cringe-worthy.

Who thought it was a good idea to have that Ray Winstone character? Why does everybody trust him after a double-cross? Why are we supposed to care what happens to him?

This movie surpassed Temple of Doom’s goofiness and peaked at retarded. Then it shot past retarded and swung from a vine. Then it threw crap at me. Then ants ate my face.

    Positives
The one sequence that got me excited was the chase on the motorcycle- captured the old feel with some great stunt work- before the CGI got way out of hand. The warehouse scene was pretty good too. Once we got to the tribal ninja monkey ghouls…uggh. I was waiting for the muppets to pop up.

Harrison Ford does some awesome physical stuff here- sure he doesn’t do all of it, but he’s in great shape! I forgot how old he was in certain scenes. I was ready to believe anything he did..until the 20 minute mark.

    Mostly lows:
I didn’t mind the sci-fi element, but the way it was written sucked. I agree with Dave on the fridge bit. I thought the sky-diving raft was ridiculous in Temple of Doom, but the waterfall sequence was even worse.

John Hurt was comic relief right?

Worst sword fight in a movie- ever.

    Terrible CGI.

    Lame friggen ending.

Screw you Crystal Skull lovers! Send me hate mail because I hate you! Especially you Shia Ladouche!

with regards to other crystal skull haters,

    Marty

    but wait- there’s more!

A nothing villain. Her accent desperately trying to make an impression. Cate Blanchett was definitely the most underwhelming villain of the series.

Worst tree gag- remember the funny looney tunes moment where they land in the tree and the tree springs back and goes whackity smack? Wakka wakka! of course you don’t remember, I almost blocked it out too.

Shia wasn’t bad, I’m just tired of seeing him in every big box office movie. It’s what the script made him do.

nothing at stake. no interesting relationships. I didn’t even enjoy the music. I poop on this movie.

I would not watch Ghost Rider again over Indy though. Maybe Disturbia.
